Learning how to recover from a swimming position to a standing position is a skill that most swimmers learn through trial and error and an ability that contributes a great deal to water confidence. If your children are in the pool and can touch it doesn't necessarily make them water safe, we need to ensure a child knows how to recover to an upright position. These are some steps to recovering to an upright position.
- Reach forward with the hands and push down
- Lift head, bring knees up and rotate feet towards the bottom of the pool.
It's worth keeping an eye on your older children as well as your younger ones when they're in the pool to see if they're confident recovering to the upright position.
